Jovan Kovacic

East West Bridge Co-Founder and President, Trilateral Commission Serbian Group Chairman

East West Bridge Co-Founder and President, member of the Executive Committee of the Trilateral Commission and Chairman of the Serbian National Group of the Trilateral Commission. Jovan hosted the 38th European Session of the Trilateral Commission in Belgrade Oct 31 to Nov 2, 2014.

Former international reporter, a communications expert and policy advisor. Jovan was born in Belgrade in 1953 and educated in British, Serbian and US schools, MA in communications and media management. He worked for decades worldwide as a war correspondent for CNN, ABC, NPR, BBC and other major international media. He ended his award-winning reporting career as a Reuters’ correspondent for ex-Yugoslavia covering the wars from 1991 to 1998. He joined the Office of the High Representative to Bosnia in 1998, as a political advisor in charge of reconstruction and negotiating the safe return of thousands of refugees and DPs. He also played an active role in the pro-democracy movement in Serbia. Jovan was seconded to OSCE in 2001 in Belgrade as a Media Advisor, to streamline and develop major media outlets.

Jovan is the CEO of GCA Global Communications Associates Ltd, a consultancy company based in Cyprus and London, an affiliated partner to top world consultancy companies, and the senior partner in a top Serbian PR company Kovacic&Spaic.

In 2009, Jovan founded the East West Bridge organization, an international, independent, scientific and research community, which works in close cooperation with other regional and governmental institutes and think-tanks aiming to adopt guidelines for sustainable individual, society and state development. Born as a Serbian- based initiative, it quickly grew into an internationally recognized movement for sustainable and positive social change around the world. Today its members come from 60 countries, and EWB has opened chapters in Switzerland, Mexico, Montenegro, Italy and is now working on USA, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Morocco, Malaysia, Malta, Taiwan, Hongkong, China, for 2016. EWB has affiliate organizations in Azerbaijan, Germany, South Korea, Russia, USA, Japan, Nepal and India.
